Thyme To Create was created by Sonja Galsworthy in 2012 however she has been sewing and creating from the age of 7.
Sonja graduated at the Royal School of Needlework in 1994 and was a freelance embroiderer for many years working for church furnishers Watts & Co amongst other private commissions. Her most notable commission was for award winning milliner Philip Treacy, creating the silver unicorn on the 'Black Gallion Ship' hat worn by Isabella Blow on many occasions.
Sonja gained the City and Guilds Award in Education and Training in 2015 and has since been teaching day classes at the Royal School of Needlework as well as regular weekly classes with Surrey Adult Learning, various private classes around the country and at her home in Lightwater, Surrey.
In 2020 Sonja was awarded the Beryl Dean Award for Teaching Excellence in Embroidery & Design in Textile Art, supported by The Embroiderer's Guild and judged by a panel of top industry professionals
Sonja is available to hire for private classes, group classes, school enrichment classes, demonstrations and lectures.
